spongoid, a.|ˈspɒŋgɔɪd| Also spungoid. [f. Gr. σπόγγ-ος sponge n.1 + -oid. Cf. Gr. σπογγοειδής, σπογγώδης, and spongeoid a.] 1. spongoid inflammation, a kind of soft cancer or morbid growth. (Cf. fungus n. 2.)
