spongilla, n. Ent.|spʌnˈdʒɪlə| Also Spongilla. [mod.L. Spongilla the name of a genus of freshwater sponges, f. L. spongia sponge n.1 + mod.L. dim. -illa.] spongilla fly, any neuropteran insect of the family Sisyridae, whose larvae are parasitic on freshwater sponges; a sponge-fly.
