L. abscēdent-em pr. pple. of abscēd-ĕre: see prec.] ‘Applied formerly to those parts which, when the body is in its natural condition, are either united or contiguous to other parts, but when diseased no longer maintain their union or contact, as the bones, etc., in ulceration.’ Mayne 1851; Syd.
