† crannel Obs. Also cranel(l, crannell. [app. f. F. cran: see cranny; perh. identical with F. crenel (12th c. in Littré), Pr. cranel, dim. of cran, which is however chiefly a term of fortification: see crenel, carnel.] A small opening or hole; a cranny, crevice, chink.
