Fashionable dressmaking or design; used as a collective term for the designers or makers of women's fashionable clothes, esp. in Paris; also, the clothes made by them. So (la) haute couture: high fashion; the fashionable world; the leading dressmakers and dressmaking establishments collectively. Also attrib.
