▪ I. cooter|ˈkuːtə(r)| [Cf. coot v.1] A popular name in the Southern United States of two tortoises, the Common or Carolina Box-turtle (Cistudo carolina), and the ‘Florida Cooter’ (Chrysemys concinna), family Testudinidæ.
