‖ consommé|kɔ̃sɔme, kɒnˈsɒmeɪ| [F., n. use of pa. pple. of consommer: see prec.] A strong broth or soup made by slowly boiling meat for a long time. Now esp. applied to clear soup. Also fig. (cf. ‘in the soup’).
