Skylon, skylon Archit.|ˈskaɪlɒn| [f. sky n.1, prob. after pylon.] The name of a spindle-shaped filigree spire, illuminated at night, forming a prominent feature of the South Bank exhibition at the Festival of Britain in 1951. Also used transf. of other similar structures.
