sinhalite Min.|ˈsɪnhəlaɪt| [f. as Sinhalese n. and a. + -ite1.] A borate of aluminium and magnesium, MgAlBO4 (usu. also containing iron), which forms pale yellow to deep brown orthorhombic crystals resembling olivine and frequently of gem quality.
