† clot-bird Obs. [f. clot, clod + bird n.] A species of bird frequenting fallow-land; the Wheatear (Saxicola œnanthe); called also Arling, Clodhopper, and Fallow-smiter. (Erroneously applied by some to the Hawfinch, Coccothraustes vulgaris.)
