[f. silane + -ize.]
trans. To treat (silica-based material, esp. support material for chromatography) with reagents which render the surface more inert by converting reactive groups to organosilicon groups. Hence ˈsilanized ppl. a., ˈsilanizing vbl. n. Also silaniˈzation, treatment of this kind.
