(ed. 6) 8 Schungite from the Olonets Government, Russia, is a similar amorphous form of carbon intermediate between anthracite and graphite, occurring in phyllite. 1916Trans. & Proc. Geol. Soc. S. Africa XVIII. 130 Schungite and graphitoid merge into graphite, but the difference is not crystalline merely, for the latter yields graphitic acid on oxidation, while the former do not. 1941Compt.
