chætophorous, a. Zool.|kiːˈtɒfərəs| [f. Gr. χαίτη hair, mane + -ϕορ-ος bearing + -ous: after mod.L. chætophora.] Bristle-bearing; applied to ‘the Annelids which have bristle-bearing foot-tubercles, such as tube-worms and sand-worms; and also those which have locomotive bristles, such as earth-worms’ (Syd. Soc. Lex.).
