chrestomathy|krɛˈstɒməθɪ| [ad. Gr. χρηστοµάθεια, f. χρηστός useful + -µαθεια learning. Cf. F. chrestomathie.] A collection of choice passages from an author or authors, esp. one compiled to assist in the acquirement of a language.
