sherardize, v.|ˈʃɛrədaɪz| Formerly also Sherardize. [f. the name of Sherard O. Cowper-Coles (1867-1936), English chemist + -ize.] trans. To coat (iron or steel articles) with zinc by heating in contact with zinc dust at a temperature below the melting point of zinc. So ˈsherardized ppl. a., ˈsherardizing vbl. n.
