chechia|ˈʃeɪʃɪə| Also checchia, etc. [Fr. chéchia, ad. Maghribi Arab. šāšīya, f. Arab. Šāš, name of a town in Transoxiana.] A cylindrical tufted cap or fez worn by Arabs and formerly by French troops in Africa.
