champlevé, n. and a.|ʃɑ̃ləve, ʃæmplɛˈveɪ| [Fr., f. champ field, levé raised.] Applied to enamel work in which the metal ground is engraved, cut out, or depressed, and the spaces filled with enamel pastes and fired.
