‖ sforzando Mus.|sforˈtsando| [It., gerund of sforzare to force.] a. A musical direction indicating that the note so marked is to be specially emphasized or rendered louder than the rest. Abbreviated sf., sfz. Sfz. p., abbreviated form of sforzando piano, suddenly loud followed by diminuendo or piano.
