cerulignol Chem.|sɪər(j)uːˈlɪgnɒl| Also cœrulignol. [ad. G. caerulignol (A. Grätzel 1882, in Arch. d. Pharm. CCXX. 606), f. L. cæruleus dark blue (cf. quot. 1923) + lign-um wood + -ol.] A colourless oily phenolic liquid, C10H14O2, which has astringent properties and an odour like that of creosote and is obtained by the distillation of various wood-oils and fruits.
