1883J. L. W. Thudichum in Brit. Med. Jrnl. 15 Sept. 525/1 Let us cast a glance at a class of immediate principles of the brain, which I have termed cerebrosides. The principal one is phrenoid; the second in order of quantity is kerain; together they form about 5 per cent. of the weight of the brain. 1956Nature 7 Jan. 21/2 Dr. H. E. Carter..gave further information regarding cerebrosides and cerebroside sulphuric ester. 1957Sci. News XV. 93 The cerebrosides are found chiefly in the human brain... When hydrolysed they give one molecule each of D-galactose or D-glucose, a fatty acid, and a nitrogenous base, sphingosine. |
