pædogamy Biol.|piːˈdɒgəmɪ| Also (chiefly U.S.) pedogamy. [ad. G. pädogamie, paedogamie (M. Lühe 1902, in Schriften d. Physikal.-ökonom. Gesellsch. Konigsberg, Sitzung biol. Sektion XLIII. 5), f. pædo- + -gamy.] In certain protozoans, reproduction by the fusion of gametes derived from the same parent cell (see also quot. 1953).
