cattleya Bot.|ˈkætlɪə| [mod.L., f. name of William Cattley, an English patron of botany: see -ia.] An epiphytal plant belonging to the orchidaceous genus Cattleya, native to Central America and Brazil, bearing handsome violet, rose-coloured, or yellow flowers.
