‖ pyxidium Bot.|pɪkˈsɪdɪəm| Pl. pyxidia. [mod.L., ad. Gr. πυξίδιον, dim. of πυξίς a box: see pyx.] A capsule opening by transverse dehiscence, so that the top comes off like the lid of a box.
