Serbonian, a.|sɜːˈbəʊnɪən| [f. Gr. σερβωνί-ς (λίµνη) + -an.] Serbonian bog: Milton's name for Lake Serbonis in Lower Egypt, a marshy tract (now dry) covered with shifting sand. Hence used allusively.
