[in F. cornac, Pg. cornáca, supposed to be of Indian origin, but not now found in any Indian vernacular. (Dr. Rost, quoted in Yule, suggests Singhalese kūrawa elephant-stud + nāyaka leader; others propose, for the first part, Skr. karī elephant.)]
