pyroleter|paɪˈrɒlɪtə(r)| [f. Gr. πῦρ fire + ὀλετήρ destroyer.] An apparatus for extinguishing fire, consisting of a double pump by which solutions of hydrochloric acid and sodium bicarbonate are mixed in a cylinder, and the carbonic acid generated by the reaction is projected upon the fire.
