▪ I. † prepone, v.1 Obs. rare. Forms: 15 prepone, 16 praepone [‹ classical Latin praepōnere to place in front > prefix + pōnere to place (see ponent n. and adj.1). Compare slightly earlier prepose v. 2a.] trans. To place in front of; to set before.
