† aˈbastard, v. Obs. [ad. Fr. abastardir (as old as 12th c.) from à prep. + bastard. Cf. OSp. abastardar.] prop. To make or declare bastard or illegitimate: hence, to make spurious or degenerate; to debase, corrupt, deteriorate.
