† abalienate, v. Obs.|æbˈeɪlɪəneɪt| [f. L. abaliēnāt-um, pa. pple. of abaliēnā-re to estrange; f. ab off, away, + aliēnā-re to estrange; f. aliēn-us belonging to another; see alien.] 1. ‘To make that another's which was our own before. A term of the civil law not much used in common speech.’ J. (Only used as a technical equivalent of Abaliēnāre in Rom. Law.) 2. To remove; to estrange in feeling.
