scioptric, a. and n. Now rare or Obs.|saɪˈɒptrɪk| [f. Gr. σκιά shadow, after catoptric, dioptric. Cf. scioptic.] A. adj. scioptric ball: a ball of wood with a hole made through it in which a lens is placed, used in the camera obscura.
