1899M. Foster Claude Bernard ix. 232 We may recognise a salient difference between..the false scientaster and the true inquirer. 1969Sci. Jrnl. Sept. 91/1 Zahlen made the neat distinction that in Lebanon most advisory scientists were ‘not scientists at all but just had some scientific education’. Michael Foster coined the word ‘scientaster’ for such people; it deserves reintroduction. |
