saurischian, a. and n.|sɔːˈrɪskɪən| [f. mod.L. Saurischia (H. G. Seeley 1887, in Proc. R. Soc. XLIII. 170), f. Gr. σαύρα, σαῦρος lizard + ἰσχίον ischium + -an.] a. adj. Relating or pertaining to the Saurischia, a sub-order or order of dinosaurian reptiles with the inferior pelvic elements directed downwards. b. n. A member of the Saurischia.
