sarcelle|sɑːˈsɛl| Also 4 cercelle, 5 sorcell (?), 6 sarcell. [a. OF. cercelle (13th c.), mod.F. sarcelle = Pr. sercela (cf. med.L. cercella, Higden):—pop. L. *cercedula-, for class. L. querquedula.] A name for the teals and closely allied ducks (e.g. the garganey, the long-tailed duck).
