Santorin|sæntəˈriːn, ˈsæntərɪn| Also santorin, Santoˈrini. [ad. Gr. σαντορίνη Santorini, former name for Thira, ad. It. Sant' Irene St. Irene, Italian name for the island.] In full Santorin earth. A natural volcanic ash, similar to pozzolana, found on the island of Thira in the Cyclades.
