biosystematics, n. pl. (const. as sing.)|ˌbaɪəʊsɪstəˈmætɪks| [f. bio- + systematics s.v. systematic n. 2.] A branch of taxonomy based on the experimental study of the genetic and other properties of plant and animal populations. Orig. called biosyˈstematy n. (now rare).
