saliferous, a.|səˈlɪfərəs| [f. L. sal, sali- salt + -ferous, perh. after F. salifère. (Cf. Kirwan's saliniferous.)] Containing a large proportion of salt: said chiefly of strata. Formerly used Geol. to define the Upper Trias.
