▪ I. puggle, v. Chiefly dial.|ˈpʌg(ə)l| [Freq. from pug v.2 1: see -le 3.] trans. To push or poke a stick or wire down (a hole, etc.) and work it about in order to clear the hole.
1863Trans. Essex Archæol. Soc. II. 186 Puggle, to poke out, as to puggle the ashes, a drain, or anything that is encumbered with rubbish. 1899Let. to Rev. C. B.
