▪ I. rutherfordite1 Min.|ˈrʌðəfədaɪt| [f. the name Rutherford (see below) + -ite1.] A name given to a poorly characterized yellow-brown form of fergusonite found in gold mines in Rutherford County, North Carolina.

LXIV. 344 By its translucency, rutherfordite is readily distinguished from samarskite, which it otherwise closely resembles. 1880Ibid.
