basilect Linguistics.|ˈbæsɪlɛkt| [f. basi- + -lect.] In a post-creole community, the social dialect that is most closely related to the creole and furthest removed from the standard language; also, the least prestigious or ‘lowest’ variety of any language. Cf. acrolect, mesolect.
