Barnardo, n.|bəˈnɑːdəʊ| Also erron. Barnado. The name of Thomas John Barnardo (1845–1905), British philanthropist, used attrib., as Barnardo child, Barnardo orphan, etc., and in the possessive to designate any of the destitute and homeless children brought up in the homes founded by Dr. Barnardo.
