‖ balancé|balɑ̃se| [Abbrev. of F. pas balancé, lit. ‘balanced step’.] A dance step, now spec. in Ballet, comprising a swaying movement from one foot to the other; hence (see quot. 1847) the quality implicit in the step, sinuosity.
