ristocetin Pharm.|rɪstəʊˈsiːtɪn| [Arbitrarily formed; -cetin f. actinomycetes + -in1.] An antibiotic substance (now known to be a mixture) obtained from the actinomycete Nocardia lurida and formerly used to treat staphylococcal infections.
