AWACS Mil. (orig. U.S.).|ˈeɪwæks| Also Awacs. [Acronym, f. the initial letters of Airborne Warning and Control System.] An airborne long-range radar system for detecting other aircraft, including low-flying ones, and controlling weapons directed against them.
