auxospore Bot.|ˈɔːksəʊspɔː(r)| [f. Gr. αὔξ-ειν to increase + -o + σπόρος, σπορά spore.] A spore formed in diatoms by the union of two cells or by the excessive growth of an individual cell. Also, the resting-spore of the diatoms.
