A fissure, crack.
c1400Lanfranc's Cirurg. 125 Þei asaie in þis maner if þat þe brekynge of þe brayn panne be wiþ a rimel, þat is to seie a chene, eiþer a creueis. Ibid. 134 For if þat ilke remile peerse þe brayn panne, þer is a greet doute in þe caas.
