Hence augurating, vbl. n.
1. intr. To perform the duties of augur; to take the auguries, observe and predict from omens.
1678Cudworth Intell. Syst. 713 Navius having performed his Augurating Ceremonies, replied, that the thing might be done.
2. trans. (and with subord. clause). To infer or conjecture from omens, to divine.
