richterite Min.|ˈrɪçtəraɪt| [ad. G. richterit (A. Breithaupt 1865, in Berg- und Hüttenmännische Zeitung XXIV. 364), f. the name of H. Theodor Richter (1824–98), German metallurgical chemist: see -ite1.] a. A manganiferous mineral of the amphibole group, (Na,K)2(Mg,Mn,Ca)6Si8O22(OH)2, found as elongated brown, yellow or rose-red monoclinic crystals. b. The end member of the series of amphiboles containing this, which lacks manganese and has the ideal formula Na2CaMg5Si8O22(OH)2.
