athetize, v.|ˈæθɪtaɪz| [f. Gr. ἄθετος set aside + -ize: formed to render Gr. ἀθετεῖν to set aside, reject as spurious.] trans. To set aside (a passage) as spurious. Hence ˈathetizer.
