ˈRibston Also Ribstone. [f. Ribston Park, between Knaresborough and Wetherby in Yorks.] 1. Used attrib. with pippin as the name of a choice variety of dessert apple, originally introduced from Normandy about 1707. See A. Amherst Gardening (1895) 226.
