†1. One who revises; a reviser. Obs.

†2. One who looks back upon something. Obs.—1
1654Whitlock Zootomia 517, I am ashamed of nothing more than the Crosse of Christ, as I believe those Reviewers are, whom the Prophet speaketh of, They shall look back on him whom they have peirced.
3. One who criticizes new publications; a writer of reviews. In early use, the author of a special pamphlet criticizing another work.
